to Go
Bengals football and Reds baseball can contribute to summer and fall travel. Travelers
toting toddlers and schoolchildren should schedule trips for late spring, summer or early
fall to appreciate the glories of the great events that run March through December.
(Although the Cincy zoo is open 365 days a year.) The Cincinnati Art Museum makes a great
inclement weather option. It's open every day except Monday, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.
Fall brings the most pleasant weather though.
Average Weather
Expect snow often in Cincinnati during the winter months. Spring is rainy season with an
average rainfall of 40 inches, bringing summer flowers into bloom. Summer heat hits the
low 80s but it feels hotter as humidity is high. Fall is the best season with warm
temperatures and little rainfall.
Transportation
The Jet Port Express runs from the airport to the city center every half hour from 6 am to
10 pm seven days a week at a cost of $12 one way. It's worth your while to go ahead and
buy a round-trip ticket for $16. Downtown Cincinnati has skywalks connecting hotels,
convention centers, and shopping.
In-Season Costs
As a business hub, Cincinnati has a wide range of hotels, but if you need to pay less than
$100 per night in center city search for specials in advance. Meal costs are moderate;
you'll be able to pick and choose what to pay with dinner in a low-to-moderate cost
restaurant available for less than $20.
Cincinnati has more top-rated restaurants than other cities in its size range, and many
different international cuisines are available. Downtown-based business travelers needn't
shell out for in-town transport as the city center is designed to protect pedestrians from
the weather.
Day Trips
Dayton and Indianapolis are in easy day-trip range for the Cincinnati-based business
traveler. Tourists seeking a more scenic destination may want to take a trip to Louisville
or Lexington, Kentucky. The Paramount Theme Park, King's Island boasts the world's longest
wooden roller coaster. It's open select weekends in the spring and fall, and daily during
the summer. King's Island is only 24 miles north of Cincinnati. |
