| Corpus Christi At a Glance
Best Time to Go
Definitely, visit during the late spring or fall if you have your choice. Heat lovers
wont wilt in the summer - but the rest of us will enjoy Corpus Christi more in
April, May, and October.
Average Weather
January is the coldest month with average lows of 46 and average highs of 64 Fahrenheit.
July averages highs of 96 F and has an average low of 75. The city receives an average of
28 inches of rainfall annually.
Transportation
American Airlines, Continental Airlines, Delta, and Southwest Airlines serve Corpus
Christi International Airport. Avis, Budget, Dollar, Hertz, and National car rental
companies all have airport locations. An economical trolley runs Mondays through Saturdays
from the motels on Shoreline Boulevard to Padre Island and Sunrise Shopping malls. The
Harbor Ferry runs from the Art Museum Barge Dock to Corpus Christi Beach. The beach
shuttle is a free tram service that runs around Corpus Christi beach attractions, hotels,
and restaurants. Call 361-289-2600 for further information about tourist transportation or
local bus service.
In-Season Costs
Corpus Christi is one of those cities where you can make your budget and stick to it.
While you should expect to pay in the $80 range for a resort hotspot hotel, you will find
some budget hotels and luxury lodgings. Vacationers visiting during the summer should
definitely check lodging.com for specials. Budget travelers need to have a car; the least
expensive hotels are off the tourist transport circuit. In addition to excellent seafood,
Corpus Christi has great Tex-Mex food and lots of local restaurants where you can leave
with a full stomach for under $10 per diner.
Day Trips
Mustang Island and the Gulf Port Beach of Port Aransas are only a 30-minute drive from
Corpus Christi. A three-and-one-half-hour drive down 1-37 to San Antonio, change to Loop
410 and then take I-35 to San Marcos to hit shoppers paradise. San Marcos is outlet
central for Texas; two large outlet malls offer over 200 different stores. |
