Pensacola At a Glance

Best Time to Go
May to September is the best time to visit --- most of the attractions are open seven days a week during this time and the beaches are usually pleasant.

Average Weather
Residents of Pensacola expect an average of 343 days of sunshine per year and they are seldom disappointed. January is the coldest month with an average temperature of 53.5 F, and an average water temperature of 68 F. June, July and August all see average highs in the low 80s making Pensacola a pleasant beach destination that’s not oppressively hot in the summer.

Transportation
Com Air, Delta, US Airways, Northwest, and Continental serve the Pensacola Regional Airport. A limited bus service is available in Pensacola; call (850) 595-3228 for information. This area is best visited with a vehicle. Most major rental companies have outlets in Pensacola.

In-Season Costs
Expect to pay at the very least around $70 for a room during the high season. If you watch lodging.com well in advance you might net a special rate below the $70 range for a standard room. Pensacola is an area where the rest of your budget is up to you - there is a smattering of high-dollar restaurants and an array of dining options less than $15, as well as every major chain and fast food purveyor. Pensacola is an outdoorsy city, and you’ll find lots of spots to picnic if you choose the grocery store budget traveler's route.

Day Trips
The battleship USS Alabama and the submarine USS Drum are an hour’s drive away in a 100-acre park in Mobile, Alabama. Bellingrath Gardens in Theodore, Alabama is one of the most engrossing days out in the south. Chautauqua Winery is just north of DeFuniak Springs on Interstate 10 and makes an interesting day out. You can call (850) 892-5887 for information.
