 Twin Cities At a Glance
Best Time to Go
Definitely summer, late spring and early fall. Most travelers find the weather a real draw
back the rest of the year. If you LIKE winter, St. Paul's Winter Festival in January and
February might be just the ticket.
Average Weather
Both St. Paul and Minneapolis enjoy a clear divide between all four seasons with mild
autumn and spring temperatures, freezing winters, and warm summers. Even during the
hottest part of the year, expect "warm" not "hot" summer highs
averaging in the 70s and 80s.
Transportation
In Minneapolis, call (612) 673-2595 for Light Rail Transit information. For 24-hour bus
information, call (612) 341-4281. Local bus information in St. Paul is accessible by
calling (612) 373-3333. The St. Paul Skyway service covers the center city.
In-Season Costs
Costs are equivalent to most major metro areas with budget rooms selling for upwards of
$70 per night unless you shop well in advance. Restaurant prices, excluding fast food, are
a bit high; expect a $10 tab for a moderate lunch.
Day Trips
The Twin Cities are sited so that to stay in one is to enjoy the other. The shores of the
scenic St. Croix River are close enough for cruises and day visits. The big area draw is
the ever-popular Mall of the Americas.
