Jacksonville At a Glance

Best Time to Go
Fall and spring are great times for golfers. July's a winner if you're interested in hitting the beach.

Average Weather
Starting in May, average daily highs hit the 80s until October. July and August are the hottest months with August also being the rainiest. December, January, and February are the coolest with a mean temperature in the 60s.

Transportation
Jacksonville's monorail system, the Skyway, is partially open and serves a limited downtown route. It closes on Sundays and many Saturdays, except for transport to Jacksonville Jaguars games. Stadium Shuttle Service is also available to reach Jaguar games. Bus service is available throughout the city and to some of the beaches. Call (904) 63-3100 for current bus of Skyway schedule and fare information. Due to the size of Jacksonville, a car is the best way of getting around.

In-Season Costs
Jacksonville has a range of hotels to suit any budget. Restaurants are moderately priced with all major chains available. Business travelers who plan on golfing would do well to consider a golf package for their stay.

Day Trips
Timucuan Preserve, a 46,000-acre historic preserve encompassing salt marshes and Florida's oldest surviving plantation house, is nearby. Call (904) 641-7155 for information. Amelia Island is home to a variety of wildlife. Call 1-800-2Amelia for further information. Jacksonville's beaches are 12 miles out of the city center. St. Augustine is a short drive away.
